Kent Park Taverners Tavern Dress Code

Kent Park Taverners – History

Kent Park Taverners was founded in the mid 1960’s by Ted Sceales who was then the Marketing Director of South African Breweries.

The concept was to provide an environment for members of the Wanderers Club to enjoy first class cricket combined with a glass of beer. Kent Park Taverners gained its name from the ground on which the current Wanderers Stadium was built, Victor Kent Park.

Kent Park Taverners has enjoyed several homes within the Wanderers stadium, the “Bull Ring”, but in 1997 it donated R1 million to the then Transvaal Cricket Union to contribute towards the construction of the Taverners Pavilion. 100 debentures were sold to fund this exercise and Kent Park Taverners has since opened up its membership and currently has over 500 members.

Fundraising

Over the years Kent Park Taverners have funded cricket development throughout the province and the country. They actively support junior cricket through the annual Montrose Night Challenge. More recently, the Taverners have sponsored the Wanderers Women’s T10 tournament to help promote the women’s game.
